Plein air oil painting on board (8x8) in City Park today. The day started out grey and foggy. By the time I packed up the sun was streaming through the trees and I had a sunburn on my neck. I think it’s time for me to prep for summer painting. 💦

Back to painting oils today! When painting outside

Back to painting oils today! When painting outside I get to become consumed in the wild environment surrounding me and meditate on my subject. Getting outside to paint grounds me for the rest of my week. However, some days, it’s just not possible to get outside considering weather and little ones. So I finally had some time to get back into this plein air painting of wildflowers at the batture that got disrupted by rain (and still a work in progress). While I love painting outside it is lovely to have a candle, a cup of tea by my side, and no distractions (at least during nap time).

I painted in Audubon Park today with @nolasia . Rain was in the forecast so I went with an 8x8 wood panel I had prepared. It was cold and windy with a white sky bright sky that obscured the details of the oak tree. #pleinairpainting #oilpainting #oaktree
